RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Peru international striker Paolo Guerrero has reached a deal to join Internacional on a free transfer from Brazilian rivals Flamengo.
Th 34-year-old will be tied to the Porto Alegre club for three seasons in a deal worth 180,000 euros a month, including bonuses, according to reports.
Brazilian news outlet Globo Esporte said the move would be made official when Guerrero's contract with Flamengo expires on August 10.
Guerrero scored 43 goals in 112 matches for Flamengo after his 2015 move from Corinthians.
The former Bayern Munich striker was given a 12-month ban for doping last December after testing positive for cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine. The penalty, backdated to November, was halved less than two weeks later by FIFA's appeal committee.
He claimed that he unwittingly consumed the substance in contaminated tea and that it did not enhance his sporting performance.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport extended the penalty by eight months on May 14 after a challenge by the World Anti-Doping Agency. However, the ban was lifted by a Swiss court just days later, allowing Guerrero to play in Peru's first World Cup since 1982.
The forward featured in all of Peru's three group matches in Russia, scoring in their 2-0 victory over Australia on June 26.
